Mobile Outreach Service
What is this service?
The staff at Sharehouse felt that although we offer accommodation we do not always have vacancies and young people who may not be at immediate risk of homelessness but they are struggling with:
The relationships in their current living space.
Having tenancy issues, for example, behind with rent.
Overcrowding in their current house.
In most of these circumstances they can avoid homelessness with help to:
Find somewhere else to stay.
Negotiate with real estates.
Tenancy advice and support.
Assistance to find employment or training to improve their circumstances.
Case management to help them identify issues around budgeting, health and priorities.
Access to other services that may be able to give help and support.
Coast to Country Housing Company have given us access to a 4 bed house which we have utilised as a shared housing option. This property realistically reflects the housing options of any young person leaving home regardless of their background. This property operates as part of our outreach program we may accommodate couples in the shared environment.
The house is fully furnished with the basic needs for a home with individual locked rooms. Each tenant is expected to be on the Queensland Department of Housing list and hold an individual lease for their room and responsibility for the shared areas.
This accommodation has the same expectations as the Medium Term Supported Accommodation operated by Sharehouse.
